Blackberry Sage Smash
Dark fruit, soft herbs, and a glass the color of evening.
- fresh blackberries6
- fresh sage leaves3
- hibiscus tea, chilled2
- simple syrup0.5
- fresh lemon juice0.5
- sparkling water2
- ice
- 1.Muddle the Darkness. Blackberries, sage leaves, and syrup in the tin — press until every berry bursts and gives up its juice, then stop. The sage only needs bruising; the berries are the ones doing the giving.
- 2.The Hard Shake. Add the hibiscus tea, lemon juice, and a full scoop of ice, seal the tin with one confident tap, and shake hard for ten seconds — big movement, both hands, ice traveling end to end.
- 3.Strain over Crushed. Fine-strain into a rocks glass packed with fresh crushed ice — fresh, never the ice you shook with, which has already given its water to the drink.
- 4.Crown It. Skewered blackberries and one soft sage leaf.
