Blueberry Basil Lemonade
Purple lemonade. That's the pitch.
- blueberries0.25
- fresh basil leaves5
- fresh lemon juice1.5
- simple syrup0.75
- cold water3
- ice
- 1.Muddle the Berries. Blueberries, basil, and syrup in the glass — press straight down until every berry bursts, about ten seconds, then stop. The purple comes from the skins, not from force, and the basil only needs bruising.
- 2.Lemon In. Add the lemon juice and a splash of cold water and swirl once — watch the purple go electric when the acid hits the berry pigments.
- 3.Strain or Don't. Strain over fresh ice and top with cold water for polish, or pour it all in, skins and all, for rustic. Both are correct.
- 4.Skewer and Serve. Berries on a pick, a basil leaf.
